Stop playing dirty game with caste based reservation system
Caste and its associate reservation system is presently the single most dangerous root level threat for national integrity in India! Sixty years of reservation to some particular community is more than sufficient for the development of their community. If it is not satisfactory then we must have following wrong method, we would have to follow some other method for their development. Caste based reservation is no more helping for the proper development of the masses. Moreover, by this system, we are depriving most needy masses sometimes! Now in India, after independence, people are not becoming poor for caste custom but for economic policy or reason. So, reservation system also (if needed) should be based on economic basis not irrationally caste basis.
I have seen in my life-my friend belongs to SC category, his father is a national bank’s branch manager; he got first class in higher secondary, I am from upper caste category, from below poverty level family, my father is also no more alive, also got first class in higher secondary. Now, we both have applied for NEC scholarship and he got the scholarship and I didn’t where I needed it most. Moreover, my other SC or ST friends who didn’t even got first class and economically sound also got NEC scholarship! So actually what was my fault? Why didn’t I get this scholarship, is that I didn’t deserved? Is that equality of law or equality of status-where does lies actually the explanation?
If we follow a wrong road to reach in a particular destination, no matter how long we walk or how fast we walk, we would never reach to destination! I think our reservation system was a wrong strategy, (or it was ethical for ten or twenty years from starting and no more applicable now) so no matter how long we continue reservation in our country our desired goal behind the reservation i.e. development of poor and deprived, will never come true. Because, giving reservation to some lower caste richer, we are again depriving some upper caste poor. Our target was to reach to the status of equality by all giving some extra facility to extreme lower and it was for ten years initially. Now after sixty years of continuance, it has been noticed that in lower caste also some dominant class has been created-they swallow most of the benefit of reservation. Our prime focuses were to serve the poor and deprived, and never was the Caste service! Now more the days are passing more dominant giant are creating among the lower castes and they are swallowing every facility. This is the time to change the strategy.
In the decade of ninety, Narasima Rao government has proposed to give reservation at least to the 10 percent of economically backward poor. But Supreme Court has given jurisdiction against it and ordered to continue in the present caste based system! Surprisingly no political parties have uttered a single word and maintain grave silence! I want to request or I would request to some political party to request to Supreme Court to review its jurisdiction regarding that matter. I would request all the political party to stop playing dirty game with Caste and reservation and work for the real national integrity and development. We want national party no regionalism or caste based political ideology. It is the greatest shame for the largest democratic country like India that even after sixty years of independence ‘equality of status and opportunity’ which is written in our constitution also, as our fundamental right, have not been materialized! This is the failure of politics I would rather say. It does not matter for the political party how long they were in power, it does matter a lot how best perspective development they have taken for the real development of democracy that is People.
2010 was the last deadline for continuance of caste based reservation system. The year has been almost gone but the policy makers are still sleeping on this matter. They are quarrelling with newly invented issue like how to make record of maximum day parliamentary work could be stopped. The rolling party is obstinate in spite of playing the corruption game where as opposition are number one adamant and don’t care about national development. How can they stop functioning of parliament for the long twenty one day!
The all political party such a coward that no one utters a single word against caste based reservation system. Presently we cannot expect more than that from any such political party. Only best solution is still there but I dare when will it come. This would be people’s participation, but people also scare now to play with a power and money addicted political party-they can go any extent, even sell the country for the dirty game. They have such experience in the decade of eighty when thousands of students’ did suicide to stop caste based reservation at least in educational system, but government was adamant to continue it. Now this become such a complex issue that even every political party fear most to stepped up into it. This become like an affectionate boy becomes horrible even for his own parents! It would be the most challenging for India to wither away caste based reservation for all field and established equality of status and opportunity.
I aspire the day would come when every citizen of India irrespective of caste, politics would come to the streets to stop caste based reservation and government would be bound to abolish caste based reservation within a day. It is true reservation is still require as forty percent masses living below poverty line, but it would have to be based on economic criteria and it would have to have a strict deadline of a certain period. And the government should give highest priority to eradicate poverty within this deadline so that India can enjoy ‘equality of status and opportunity’ after that.
