Feelings of touch with Agriculture

Recently agriculture is inspiring me very much. I never went deep into it. My father was a small farmer and also a tea seller.  I was a small shop keeper (Pan vendor) cum Engineer, then Police officer... When I was a kid agriculture did not attract me much, paddy cultivation was boring and irritating for me for its manual process. But other than paddy all vegetable cultivation was interesting of course-everyday I used to go to the field to notice how much they grew up by one night. They (it) tried their best to satisfy my urge but it was never satisfiable. Then study became prime focus, initially I used to visit in alternate days, later on slipped into occasional-it was rather encouraging to notice their growth after a gap of few days. I had a small garden behind my study room consisting of many flower-trees including Lotus, tuberose and others trees of fragrant flower...those days it was difficult to bring new plant because it was not available in my small town market. Small agro-engineering was only option then. I loved doing those. Later on in my initial college-life I bought some fruit-trees like Pomegranate, Litchi, Orange, Kamaranga etc. After that I lost the track. Now after seven-eight years later I am feeling to be in touch with Agriculture again not as a profession but as hobby.

     There are many people who are having their own house, own land-but never feel for plantation-gardening or horticulture. Unfortunately today we live like a rented house in my maternal uncles’ house-they are also fighting legal battle with other regarding ownership of the land. In short, any day we may have to withdraw from this place. Till now after my birth at ’87 three times we had to shift our house for terrorist related problem. Now again we had to be ready to shift. Where do I plant! God does never give you everything. If he gives you pen, will not give you paper, if gave both he will not give you the mentality to write...very few people have all these three!

     I want to build a cottage in a village, especially in my ancestral property which would be like a “Tapoban” of ancient mythology. It will be collection of all fruit-trees, medicinal plants and flower trees. In every season you will get some flower, fruits in this house, for every disease you will have some plants to cure yourself. In it there will be some peace, health and satisfaction-tranquillity. Three sides will be encircled by lakes. There will be a world in itself.
